We proposed and experimentally demonstrated an interferometer system to improve the depth of field for microscopic 3D imaging. The microscopic image is based on structured light illumination and achieve real-time image capture and 3D reconstruction by recording the object illuminated by structured light in a single shot. The depth of field of the imaging system limits the dimension of the 3D object to be observed. By using interferometer system, both the phase and amplitude information are measured. Experimental results show that image is recovered for the object that is out of focus. This project is supported by NJHF (Grand # PC 83-20) and Nokia Bell Labs summer internship program.
