Abstract

The surgical management of a discoid meniscus requires an appreciation for the possible variants and an understanding of the patient's symptoms. Various surgical techniques have been used to restore knee function and anatomy in cases of discoid meniscus with mixed outcomes. This article reviews the discoid meniscus classification, incidence, and natural history. Recommendations regarding surgical indications and arthroscopic techniques for the management of discoid meniscus are presented.
