Abstract

The creation of reaction engineering experiments that are similar to industrial reactorsin that they contain multiple chemical reactions is discussed. The experiments employ the features that include byproduct formation, green engineering, scale-up fluid mechanics and equilibrium limited reactions. These experiments will be vertically integrated through organic chemistry, fluid transport and biochemical engineering courses. It is expected that these experiments will produce students with a clear understanding of the fundamental issues in reaction engineering.
