Abstract
On systematically partially cured and cured cationic epoxies, network structures and completeness of cure were evaluated through swelling studies, extractions, FTIR, residual heat of reaction from DSC, and dynamic mechanical analyses. Degree of cure and mechanical properties were measured and compared to earlier trends in tensile strengths and modulus, flex strength and modulus, and toughness, and as a function of cure in thermally cured epoxy systems. The effects of such parameters as initiator concentration and water content on the network structure developed were also explored. Specimens were either dry or wet, cured to a given dose, and then characterized as above.
