Abstract

We report on the use of di/tri acrylates in a photocurable polymer system for the fabrication ofoptical channel waveguides. The high degree of cross-linking in these materials improves the stability overlinear systems. We have formulated resin mixtures to fabricate both single-mode and multimodewaveguides at dimensions comparable to optical fibers to improve fiber-to-waveguide coupling. Results onrefractive index tailoring as well as DSC, DMA, processing resolution, and optical loss are presented.
