Abstract

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a neurological syndrome believed to be a prodrome leading to the eventual emergence of a dementia. The concept of prodromal states before the emergence of a diagnosable dementia syndrome has been in the literature for many years. Current issues regarding MCI revolve around how best to operationally define the disorder and the prevalence of various MCI syndromes.
