Abstract

A laboratory has been equipped with reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration equipment and supporting analytical instrumentation. A pilot-scale reverse osmosis system is used to show the effect of process parameters on solute separation and production efficiency in water purification. Bench-scale ultrafiltration systems are used to demonstrate the effects of various system geometries and membrane types in protein purification and concentration.
