Abstract

Observations of Comet Halley were made with a large-aperture, double-etalon Fabry-Perot spectrometer at the McMath solar telescope on Kitt Peak, Arizona. Approximately 900 scans of H2O+, Balmer alpha (Hα), [0I] 6300, and NH2 emissions from the comet were obtained between 15 November, 1985 and 10 May 1986. This paper presents the objectives of our program, an instrument description, examples of data, and a short summary of preliminary results.
