Abstract
An experimental investigation of the practical engineering aspects of electrodialysis was developed. Students were made to investigate the effects of operating parameters such as concentrate concentration and applied voltage. Membrane selection was explored through comparison between two cation exchange membranes for the selective removal of competing cations. Data analysis and calculations emphasized practical engineering considerations such as energy consumption, efficiency, and selectivity.
