Abstract
Advances in computer signal processing and communications technology are effecting improvements in transmission gas pipeline inspection. This article presents a survey of recent developments in computer modeling, signal processing, data storage, computer visualization, and communications that are heralding a new testing era in which the automated detection and accurate characterization of a variety of pipeline defects can be carried out rapidly with an associated reduction in false calls.
