N2 - 2-Formylphenylboronic acids upon reaction with activated olefins such as acrylates, methyl vinyl ketone, and acrylonitrile provide functionalized benzoboroxoles. The corresponding homologated benzoboroxoles were synthesized via the reaction of 2-formylphenylboronic acids with α- bromomethylacrylates.
