Abstract
The various aspects of catalytic oxidation experiment used in chemical reaction engineering are discussed. The catalytic oxidation experiment was used to demonstrate the principles of reaction rate determinationm, reactor design, heterogeneous catalysis, heat and mass transfer, environmental application of reactors, and safety in reactor design. The main advantage of this experiment is that it does not have a costly product and reactant disposal problems. This exeriment is also cost effective and the construction of the experiment is simple. These experiments have been tested by Rowan engineering students and chemical engineering faculty at NSF workshop on Novel Process Science and engineering conducted at Rowan University.
