N2 - Performance of many imaging systems can be limited by their narrow field-of-view and low photosensitivity. Inspired by natural eyes, we developed two systems, which can overcome the previous obstacles and optimize the performance of the imaging systems. Mimicking dragonfly eyes, an array of microlenses is arranged on a curved surface to capture images with a wide field of view as large as 175o. Following the anatomy of elephantnose fish eye, we designed microscale reflecting concentrators that can intensify optical power on sensors and enhance photosensitivity. These bio-mimic structures offer viable solutions to significantly advance surveillance, security and night-vision cameras.
