Abstract
The angular dependence of the dipole-dipole interaction in one-dimensional sample of Rydberg atoms was investigated. The study was carried out by focusing a 480 nm beam from a tunable dye laser into a magneto-optical trap. The trap was found to be lies at the center of four conducting rods with which one can vary the magnitude and direction on the electric field at trap. The strength of the interaction for a variety of relative orientations was also measured.
