Abstract

The present work addresses updating the recent C1 model of Li et al. (IJCK, 2007) based upon the recently updated H2 combustion model of Burke and co-workers (IJCK, accepted) as well as further considerations of recent work on the kinetics of CO, CH2O, and CH3OH. A larger validation range as well as more recent experimental and theoretical studies of sensitive reactions such as OH+CO→Products, CO+HO2→CO2+H and CH3OH+HO2→Products are considered. Predictions of the current updating compare favorably with those using the Li et al. experimental validation targets, as well as additional burning velocity and ignition delay experiments spanning larger pressure ranges and dilution with H2O or CO2. The updated model will serve as a core around which to construct kinetic models for larger hydrocarbons and oxygenates.
