Abstract

Allylboration involves the addition of "allyl" boron species across multiple bonds (most commonly aldehydes, ketones, and imines). This chapter will focus on the recent advances in the area of stereoselective allylboration with a main emphasis on the boranes derived from chiral auxiliaries such as α-pinene, tartrate, borabicylo[3.3.2]decane, and camphor. Other topics include catalytic enantioselective allylboration and the chemistry of chiral αsubstituted allylboranes. Allylboration of other functional groups including epoxides, nitriles, lactams, and heteroaromatics are also discussed.
